Executive Summary of Any Document
Compress a long report, paper, or memo into a decision-ready summary with a TL;DR, key findings, and action items, no invented facts.
Document to summarize: """ [PASTE THE FULL DOCUMENT] """ Summarize the document above for [AUDIENCE, e.g. "an exec who has 2 minutes" / "my team who will act on it"]. Before writing the summary, extract the 5-8 most important sentences from the document word-for-word as quotes. Then build the summary only from what those quotes and the document support. Output: 1. **TL;DR**: the single most important takeaway in 1-2 sentences. 2. **Key points**: 3-6 bullets. Preserve exact numbers, dates, and names from the document; never round or approximate them. 3. **Decisions or actions it calls for**: only if the document actually proposes any; otherwise write "None stated". 4. **What it doesn't cover**: 1-3 things a reader might assume are addressed but aren't. Rules: use only information in the document. If something important seems missing or ambiguous, say so: "the document doesn't specify X" is a valid and useful finding. Do not add outside knowledge, even when you're confident.
How to use
Paste the document before the instructions: models handle long inputs best when the material comes first and the task after. The quote-extraction step is the anti-hallucination lever: it forces the summary to be grounded in real sentences instead of a vibe of the document.
