Suno Style Prompt Builder

Build a precise style field from era, instrumentation, vocals, and production instead of artist names, plus exclusions that fix a bad take.

Build me a style prompt for [SUNO / UDIO / ELEVENLABS MUSIC].

What I want it to sound like: [DESCRIBE IT IN YOUR OWN WORDS, INCLUDING ARTISTS YOU HAVE IN MIND. I will translate those into describable qualities rather than using the names.]
Where it will be used: [BACKGROUND FOR A VIDEO / A SONG PEOPLE LISTEN TO / A PODCAST INTRO / A GAME LOOP]
Energy over time: [STEADY / BUILDS / DROPS THEN REBUILDS]
Vocals: [NONE / MALE / FEMALE / EITHER, AND THE DELIVERY]

Build the style field in this order, most important first, and keep it to 4 to 7 descriptors, because everything past roughly the seventh is weighted lightly:

1. **Genre and era**: the specific one, with the decade. "Late-70s soft rock" and "2010s indie folk" produce very different results; "rock" produces an average of everything.
2. **Tempo and feel**: a BPM range and the rhythmic character (driving, laid back, swung, half-time).
3. **Vocals**: range, texture, and delivery. "Female alto, breathy in the verses, belted in the chorus."
4. **Instrumentation**: 3 or 4 specific instruments with their character, not a full band list. "Brushed drums, upright bass, Rhodes, no guitar."
5. **Production**: the recording aesthetic. "Tape saturation, close-miked and dry, wide plate reverb, mono drums."
6. **Mood**: one or two words, last.

Then give me:

- **The style field**, as a single comma-separated line ready to paste.
- **The exclusions**, for the exclude field rather than the prompt: the genres and elements most likely to leak in given what I asked for.
- **Three variations**: one more organic, one more produced, one at a different tempo, so I can hear which direction is right before committing.
- **What to change first** if the result is wrong in each of these ways: too generic, wrong energy, vocals not right, arrangement too busy.

Rules: never use artist or band names, which are filtered and produce vaguer results than a good description of what makes that artist sound the way they do. Translate any name I give you into era, instrumentation, vocal character, and production. Describe what is present rather than what is absent, and put the absences in the exclude field.

How to use

Naming an artist is the most common mistake and the least effective input: the reference is filtered, and what you actually wanted was their production and instrumentation, which you can just describe. Ordering matters because these style fields weight the front, so the descriptor you care about most goes first and the mood word goes last. Put negatives in the exclude field rather than the prompt, since a genre mentioned anywhere in the prompt tends to appear in the output.
