YouTube Pre-Roll Ad Script
Script skippable and bumper ads on the ABCD framework: hook and brand inside 5 seconds, one message, CTA on screen and in voice.
Script my YouTube ad(s). Product + offer: [WHAT + THE SPECIFIC OFFER/PROMISE] Viewer: [WHO + WHAT THEY'RE ON YOUTUBE WATCHING: the mindset we're interrupting] The ONE message: [IF THEY REMEMBER ONE THING: one, not three] Proof asset: [THE DEMO MOMENT / RESULT / TESTIMONIAL we can show] Formats to script: [15s SKIPPABLE / 30s SKIPPABLE / 6s BUMPER, or "all three"] The structural rule that governs everything: on skippable formats, the skip button appears at 5 seconds, so the first 5 seconds must contain BOTH the hook AND the brand. A viewer who skips at 0:05 must still know who we are and what we claimed. No slow builds, no logo-at-the-end TV structure. Script as a two-column table (TIME + VO/SPOKEN | ON-SCREEN VISUAL + TEXT): **30s skippable:** - 0-5s: the hook, drop into the middle of the problem or the most arresting demo frame; product/brand visible AND spoken. Tight framing (mobile screens), motion from frame one. - 5-20s: the proof, show the product doing the thing; one message, demonstrated not described; real person matching my actual customer. - 20-30s: the direction, the offer, CTA spoken AND on screen, one action only. **15s skippable:** hook+brand (0-4s) → one proof beat (4-11s) → CTA (11-15s). **6s bumper:** ONE idea total, brand + single benefit + visual punch. Write it as its own creative, never a compressed cut-down; if the idea needs a second sentence, it's not a bumper idea. For each script, also: - On-screen text for every beat (write it out, max 6 words per card): key points and CTA must survive sound-off viewing. - The audio note: VO energy, music on/off, where sound design carries a beat. Then: 2 alternative 5-second openings for the 30 (different hook mechanisms: problem-drop vs. demo-first vs. pattern interrupt), because the opening is the only high-stakes creative decision: the rest is delivery. Rules: one message per ad. If my inputs contain three benefits, pick the strongest and tell me why. Claims trace to my proof asset. No "wait, don't skip" gimmicks; they test worse than a real hook.
