Partnership Pitch

Write a co-marketing or integration pitch built around what the partner gains, with a specific first step small enough to say yes to.

Write a partnership pitch.

Who I am pitching: [COMPANY + THE SPECIFIC PERSON AND THEIR ROLE]
What I know about their priorities right now: [FROM THEIR BLOG, LAUNCHES, JOB POSTS, EARNINGS, PODCASTS]
What I am proposing: [INTEGRATION / CO-MARKETING / RESELLER / CONTENT SWAP / EVENT]
What we bring: [AUDIENCE SIZE AND MAKEUP, DISTRIBUTION, TECHNOLOGY, CUSTOMERS, CREDIBILITY. Real numbers.]
What we want: [BE HONEST ABOUT THIS]
Overlap in customers: [WHO WE BOTH SERVE]
Any existing connection: [MUTUAL CONTACT, USER OF THEIRS, MET AT AN EVENT, or "none"]

Write:

1. **The email**: under 180 words.
   - Subject line naming the specific opportunity, not "partnership opportunity".
   - First line establishes why them specifically, referencing something real and recent. If I gave you nothing specific, write [RESEARCH NEEDED] rather than a generic compliment, because a generic opener marks the email as a template.
   - The proposal in one or two sentences: what we would do together and what their side gains, in their metrics.
   - The asymmetry, stated honestly: what we get out of it. Pretending a partnership is charity insults a partner who does this for a living.
   - Proof we are worth the integration effort: the number that makes us credible.
   - A first step small enough to approve without a meeting: a 20-minute call, a shared doc, a pilot with one customer.

2. **Their internal objections**: the three reasons this person's boss would say no, and how the email preempts each or where it fails to.

3. **A follow-up sequence**: two follow-ups, one week and three weeks out, each adding new information rather than checking in. Say when to stop.

4. **The one-pager**: what to send if they reply asking for details. Scope, what each side does, what success looks like in 90 days, and what neither side commits to.

Rules: use only facts I supplied. Do not overstate our audience or invent shared customers. Size the ask to the size gap between the companies: a small company asking a large one for equal effort is why most of these emails go unanswered.

How to use

Partnership emails fail because they describe what the sender wants and call it mutual. The honesty clause about asymmetry works better than it sounds: partnership managers evaluate dozens of these and the ones that state the trade plainly are easier to say yes to than the ones that pretend there is no trade. Section 2 is the real deliverable, since the person you email is rarely the person who approves, and their internal pitch is the one that has to survive.
