Sale Campaign Plan

Plan a sale or Black Friday campaign that protects margin and trust: VIP early access, segmented sends, honest urgency, and the post-sale retention play.

Plan my sale campaign.

The sale: [WHAT + WHEN, e.g. "Black Friday weekend" / "anniversary sale June 1-4"]
Store/product + margins: [WHAT YOU SELL + ROUGH MARGIN so discount depth is sane]
The discount I can afford: [SITEWIDE % / TIERED ($ off at spend thresholds: raises average order) / GIFT WITH PURCHASE / EARLY ACCESS AS THE PERK, or "recommend"]
My list: [SIZE + can I segment by purchase history / engagement? What does my email platform allow?]
Last sale's results, if any: [WHAT WORKED/FLOPPED, or "first big sale"]

Build:
1. **The offer architecture**: recommend the discount structure for my margins with the reasoning: sitewide % for acquisition simplicity, spend-threshold tiers to lift average order value, flat-dollar tiers to protect margin on big carts, or a no-discount play (gift with purchase, bundle, early access as the exclusive). State what each costs me at my margin on a $[TYPICAL ORDER].
2. **The VIP layer**: define my VIPs from the data I have (spend, repeat orders, tenure), give them genuine early access 12-24 hours before public launch with its own email ("you first, before everyone"), and a pre-sale opt-in campaign two weeks out ("want first access?") that builds a high-intent segment. Early-access sends to VIPs reliably out-earn general sends per recipient. This layer is the campaign's profit center.
3. **The send calendar**: 4-6 campaign emails across the sale window, each with: audience segment, angle (launch / bestsellers / social proof / gift-guide / last chance; rotate angles, never resend the same email), subject line written out, and send timing. Suppress chronically unengaged segments during peak volume: deliverability damage during a sale costs more than the extra sends earn.
4. **Honest urgency rules, applied**: every scarcity claim in the copy must be literally true: countdowns end when the sale ends (no resets), "almost gone" only on genuinely low stock, and the sale actually ends when stated; extending a "final hours" sale trains customers to never trust a deadline again. Write the last-chance email under these constraints; it's still plenty urgent.
5. **The post-sale play**: the 2 weeks after: order follow-up that makes first-time discount buyers feel smart (not cheap), one cross-sell/education flow, and the explicit DON'T: no new discounts immediately after. It punishes full-price trust.

Rules: every number (dates, discount depths, thresholds) comes from my inputs or gets marked [DECIDE]. If my margin can't support my discount instinct, show the math and propose the alternative.
